By Shantae Rivers: There are lots of books on learning disabilities. A lot of them are boring and don’t really give you any great answers or how to apply stuff. They instead give you all these clinical terms and explanations. Finally, a book by someone who’s been through it and can relate it well. It is truly a roadmap for everyday people and not a technically blah, blah, blah, book. I’m so grateful and appreciative that the authors book is written in English for those of us parents and family members who need a better understanding of learning disabilities, how to use them and what to do. Kudos to the author. I hope she comes out with another book like this. I will definitely purchase.
By Svetlana Belopolsky, SLP: I absolutely love and respect Kathy Johnson, the author of this book for her professionalism and dedication. I think that this book is another Mrs. Johnson’s victory in her career. I found this book amazingly written and broken down for parents and professionals. I say whether you are a parent or a professional who works with a child young or old; buy this book, apply it to life, and witness results for yourself. Unfortunately I can only give max of 5 stars, but in mind this book deserves A++++++++++++!!!
By Lisa Morahan: The Roadmap From Learning Disabilities to Success is a God send for anyone plagued with feelings of hopelessness, frustration and anger from learning challenges. Kathy Johnson shows in a very easy, enjoyable way how how critical physical development is in the learning process and clearly shows it is never too late to start. The manner in which the chapters are laid out, mixed with personal stories of triumph, makes the quick read extra interesting. The overwhelming may suddenly become understandable and true progress is realized in a very short amount of time.
By Gladys Konye: Excellent guide and resource! As a speech and language pathologist I see many parents trying to get a handle on their child’s learning challenges. Kathy’s book is an excellent guide for parents. Much of my treatment practices are based on the fundamental principles exposed in “The Roadmap from Learning Disabilities to Success” book. I even recommend it to many of my clients. Quite often parents come to me after reading Kathy’s book to tell me that for the first time they feel hopeful about getting help for their child or even themselves. The book gives a step by step plan of action and, list helpful resources to start getting the help you need right away. I highly recommend this book as a first step in getting help for yourself or someone you love with a learning disability!
By Rob Fox: Great book for parents searching for answers. A parent with a child with a learning problem faces a confusing system. Does my child have ADHD, are they dyslexic, how come tutoring isn’t helping? This book provides a simple, straightforward way to look at your child and outlines interventions that can make immediate impacts on school performance and behavior. Each chapter also has an excellent summary of resources for parents to tap into, whether it be nutrition, neuro-development, vision therapy, or many others.
